The Kotoji Style Stone Lantern draws its elegant inspiration from one of Japan's most iconic garden features—the famous Kotoji-toro in Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa, widely regarded as one of the country's three most beautiful landscape gardens.A distinctive variation of the classic Yukimi (snow-viewing) lantern, the Kotoji stands out with its graceful two-legged base, where the twin supports, curve gently toward each other, evoking the arched bridge (kotoji) that supports the strings of a traditional Japanese koto harp. This unique design creates a sense of harmonious balance, especially when placed near water features: one "leg" appears to rest on land while the other reaches toward or into a pond, stream, or dry creek bed, symbolizing the seamless connection between earth and water.Hand-carved from solid, high-quality granite, our Kotoji lanterns feature:
