These massive, hand-carved granite mortars were salvaged in Fujian Province, China, and are estimated to be 100+ years old (late Qing Dynasty to early Republic period). Each piece is a single solid block of natural granite that was shaped and hollowed by hand into a deep, rounded basin. The surfaces show the character of true age — rough-hewn exteriors, weathered texture, and the soft, worn smoothness inside the bowls that only long use can create.
