Hand-carved from solid granite, each measures approximately 21–24 inches tall by 12–13 inches in diameter, with a distinctive fluted (vertically grooved) body and scalloped top edge.Originally used as the heavy upper runner stones in traditional Chinese grain mills, these rollers rotated over a flat bedstone to grind wheat, rice, and other grains into flour. The central hole accommodated the wooden or metal drive spindle.Today, these substantial, weathered pieces make striking garden ornaments, pedestals for statues or planters, fountain bases, or standalone sculptural elements.
